“Warner Bros.’ long-term view has been revised to embrace this new vision, just as the Dark Knight films resisted the commodification of Marvel. Whether we get a Justice League, they say, depends on Man of Steel. If we do, they say, Zack Snyder will be asked to direct.”
Not a shock that it'll be Snyder in the running for the gig as it seems like the natural progression. Zack Snyder is a fantastic visual director and provided he has good screenwriters (such as Jonathon Nolan or David S. Goyer) to keep him level the Justice League could be a visually stunning and a dramatically satisfying film.
Christopher Nolan has already come out and said that he would not be involved in a Justice League film, but many are still hoping against hope that he may stay on from a executive stance. I don't really think so. I'm more under the illusion that Nolan wants to move on and Man of Steel was something he's producing more for the studio and a favour to S. Goyer. I hope Man of Steel is successful and works for the DC universe as Iron Man did for Marvel. I just hope there isn't any gimmicky cameos or tie ins because if there is to be an extended universe with Superman at it's core, he must be established independently first. In my view there is no chance of a tie into Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, so Batman would also need to be re-established in his own movie, as opposed to being dunked straight into the universe Hawkeye-esc.
