I’ve been keeping up with all the news that Comic Con is currently spewing, however
aside from this one single trailer, nothing has really grabbed my attention.
The trailer in question was released yesterday at the convention and it is AMC Movie Talk Jon Schnepp’s
documentary, The Death of Superman Lives:
What Happened?
I’ve been avidly following the news surrounding this
documentary for some time now due to my personal interest in the subject. The
trailer promises that this documentary will answer the question of why Tim
Burton’s 1999 Superman reboot starring Nicolas Cage was never made. How does
that not sound intriguing?!
Superman Lives was
originally to be released that year and was very far into production before
being cancelled, the reasons behind its termination have always left movie
trivia guys like myself scratching our heads. Looking into it all the elements
involved are fascinating and wacky, and I’ve always said that this unmade Superman
film was exactly what that era of comic book films needed. Now hopefully there
will be some answers as in this trailer we see Jon Schnepp talking to everyone
from Kevin Smith to the king of Goth himself Mr Tim Burton and examining an
extensive amount of colourful concept art.
I can’t wait to see this documentary and this trailer is the
most interesting thing to come out of Comic Con so far.
