X-Men: Days of Future Past - Trailer #1

Apparently Fox saw the recent Captain America trailer and decided to blow it completely out of the water by releasing the first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It starts out fantastically with a monologue from Patrick Stewart presumably talking to Wolverine. We see so many familiar faces from the previous films, Ice-Man, Rogue, Kitty, Storm, Colossus, the entire original team. I love that the rumours that Bryan Singer is bringing back his original cast is completely true. But there’s plenty of random-ass looking mutants whom I do not recognise, but have made me somewhat curious.  Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are back and an old looking Wolverine focused on.

A montage of the original cast goes on and they seem to be in a state of chaos. Looks like the X-Men has disbanded and nobody knows what’s going on in this apocalyptic future. Then boom, the time travel starts and they explain that Wolverine must go back into his younger self and convince younger Charles and Erik about… something. Honestly it’s not clear but it makes for some incredible looking fight sequences and panic.

Michael Fassbender appears looking just as majestic as he always looks. And we even get a brief glimpse of Peter Dinklage’s characters. Young Xavier then says: ‘I don’t want your suffering, I don’t want your future!’ I originally thought he was talking to Wolverine but by the end of the trailer I came to a much more awesome conclusion. The frame lights up and we see James McAvoy sitting opposite Patrick Stewart. Older Charles then says ‘Please, we need you to hope again.’ Then simply ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ appears.

The only thing I can kind of negatively gleen from this trailer is that it’ll probably be Wolverine centric again. It’s not a criticism I’m just hoping they don’t spend too long on him and focus more on Charles and Eric. All things considered this is the best new trailer that I have seen all year, I can’t wait.
