I reviewed the first Hobbit film (on my original blog before Google + decided to delete it) and at the time I thoroughly enjoyed it. However on the first viewing I feel like I was caught up in the Middle Earth nostalgia of it all. On my second viewing I didn't enjoy it as much. However I won't watch it again until seven years have past and I shall now review the trailer for the sequel.
The trailer starts off with this ominous creepy tune with (I think) Lee Pace's Elf character giving a narration. We see parts of Lothlorien and the Dwarves continuing their travels through Middle Earth. Having not read the book, I can tell you that a scene from it that I know is highly anticipated is when Bilbo and the Dwarves escape (or something) in a load of barrels, (or something). A piece of this scene is in the trailer and it looks like it'll be a Peter Jackson-esque action scene with comedy perhaps sprinkled in.
The main thing I noticed about this trailer is the amount of times we see Orlando Bloom reprise his role of Legolas. I am fine with him being in the film and yes I know he isn't in the book, but there is a part in the trailer where he is standing with some lady (sorry hardcore fans I don't know her name) and it seems to me that Legolas may even have a significant role in the film. This may piss off the fans to no end. At the end of the trailer there is a reveal that I will not spoil. It is similar to how Gollum was revealed in the first trailer to the first film.
When I do a trailer review I don't like to give too much away so go watch it yourself right now. Its very good, isn't too spoilery and shows this and that about the film that would be typical of a first trailer. I was happy to see more of Lee Pace and I can imagine that the plot will include the Elves much more than the previous film did. No Elrond though? Hugo Weaving better be in this film... I also hope for some Gollum in there too. If they are going to add any character unnecessarily I hope its Gollum. Gollum being my favourite character in the entire original trilogy and his scene in the first Hobbit film stole the show for me.
